I had to cut Pudding’s nails today so I thought I might as well film it in case someone finds it useful ;D! This method is good for hamsters who aren’t tame or who are very fidgety and you don’t want to risk hurting them by cutting to much.
I used baby nail scissor (Amazon: which are designed for cutting tiny nails. I put some yoghurt on a small upturned pot which helps to keep her paws higher. I find yoghurt works well because they have to lick it and it keeps your hamster busy but you still have access to her paws.
For back paws I actually give her a millet ball and turn her onto her back (like this: She holds the food with her front paws and in the time she’s eating I can easily cut her toenails. However if your hamster isn’t tame enough or don’t like being turned upside-down, then you can use this method on front and back paws!
As mentioned, yoghurt should only be a treat especially for hybrid Winter White/Campbell hamsters who are prone to diabetes. I don’t recommend giving more in the same day, or more than 1-2 times a month!
I also have two DIY channels so check those out if you like kawaii crafting and cute things!
